UNEARTH VALUABLE SKILLS

The Earth & Environmental Sciences Program at Susquehanna University

Susquehanna University’s earth and environmental sciences degree program explores how Earth’s systems work and how humans impact those systems. Our students are career ready as they take courses in hydrology, geology, weather, soil science and more, with lots of hands-on field and lab work, culminating in a research collaboration with faculty.

  • We have a cutting-edge, green facility with 19 labs, a freshwater research laboratory, and an 87-acre environmental field station.
  • Earth & environmental sciences majors gain a solid knowledge of science fundamentals while also developing essential skills such as writing, presentation delivery, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Acquire valuable career experience that leads to work as a wetland scientist, mapping specialist, environmental consultant, and more. Or pursue a master’s degree in a range of subjects such as hydrology, environmental chemistry, environmental science, geophysics, etc.
  • Experience our campus and immerse yourself in science and ecology. Our week-long Stream Ecology Institute in July, for high school students entering grades 10-12, gives you hands-on experience with the fundamentals of water quality, macroinvertebrate and fish sampling, and identification.

Let’s stay in touch. We'd love to answer your questions and get to know you during your college search!

The education I received in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences and SU in general prepared me to take the next step to graduate school at Dartmouth College, where I was able to step right into a doctorate program after graduating from SU. One of the most important ways SU prepared me was to build the skills to communicate and connect with a diverse audience.
